We’re spotlighting members of the SunRice team with a fun Q&A, giving you an insight into the people behind the scenes. In this edition we’re chatting to Grower Services Administrator, Melissa Lyons (pictured in the centre above).

1. What is the best part about your job?

Definitely the growers! I’ve been here long enough that growers are like family to me, so I end up having some great conversations with them!

1. What is your favourite time of the year in the rice season?

Seed season, because it’s usually a busy time, and it’s when I get to meet and onboard our new growers.

1. If you were a SunRice product, which one would you be and why?

Probably microwave rice. No fuss, handy to have around, and different flavours depending on the mood!

1. What is one surprising thing growers wouldn’t know about you?

I own a school bus business with my husband. Growers are much easier to deal with than children. I think.

1. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

From Jan Cathcart: Always go into bat for the underdog! Jan was a firm believer that all growers should be treated equally, and likewise, that we should treat growers as we would like to be treated ourselves.
